NYPD Officer Arrested For Strangling Girlfriend

Something is in the Hudson River. Another NYPD Detective attempted to kill his romantic partner. There is no known motive at this time, but it’s weird how these cops keep trying to off their loved ones.

Leonard Swanson was arrested early in the morning on June 4, 2019. He is being charged with strangulation and a “domestic incident.” Detective Jessica McRorie acknowledged the arrest. She also told reporters that Swanson has been suspended without pay.

While details are scarce about what led Swanson to strangle his lady love, this is hardly the first time he has been in trouble. Swanson has been a detective since 2002. During that time he has been investigated on at least two other occasions.

Allegedly, Swanson was not filling out police reports correctly. In a set of leaked disciplinary records, it shows Swanson’s “failure to make accurate entries” on reports. this is troubling because they don’t give much more details than that. Was he letting dangerous criminals roam the streets of Gotham freely?

For some, an officer abusing his partner is not surprising. Many uniform chasers will tell horror stories about being with an officer. They have anger management issues and some will even feel they have a right to act any way they want.

The Law enforcement community has a higher average of domestic abuse cases than other careers. According to the National Center for Women and Policing: “even officers who are found guilty of domestic violence are unlikely to be fired, arrested, or referred for prosecution, raising concern that those who are tasked with enforcing the law cannot effectively police themselves.” Officers convicted of abusing their spouse, face no punishment for the act. It is one of the reasons many victims don’t come forward on the issue.
