Unexplored Features of SharePoint Online

While working on SharePoint I realized that SharePoint is much more than just sharing of documents internally and externally. In this article, I will be sharing my experience.

You can create posts like people news, status updates, announcements and can include graphics and rich formatting. You can easily keep your team updated with the upcoming activities using this feature. When you mention someone in the discussion using @ character, those users will be notified by email.

2. SharePoint site theming

SharePoint gives you the ability to define custom themes and which is available to owners.
This eye-catching feature makes the site look interesting.

Site designs are like a template. They can be used each time a new site is created to apply a consistent set of actions. They can also be applied to existing modern sites (group-connected Team and Communication sites). Most actions typically affect the site itself, such as setting the theme or creating lists. But a site design can also include other actions, such as recording the new site URL to a log or sending a tweet.

Create a flow for a list or library in SharePoint Online or OneDrive for Business. Microsoft Flow helps you automate common tasks between SharePoint and other Office 365 and third party services. In SharePoint you can also define workflows, which ensure that your checklists are followed in the order they need to be followed, reducing errors and streamlining your day-to-day operations.

5. Migrating your content to SharePoint and One Drive

There are several tools and methods you can use to migrate your site. What is best for you and your organization depends on a number of factors.

1. What is the size and amount of content you need to move?
2. Where does it currently reside?
3. Take the time to plan your migration, do proper assessment of data and be mindful of the inventory.

This feature enables you to share everything including sites, folders, and documents. SharePoint Online enables users to invite guests from inside, and outside, the enterprise firewall to share and collaborate on specific documents. Permissions can be modified according to your needs.

The new Cloud App Model in SharePoint Online enables users to build apps for SharePoint by using familiar tools and a rich set of features. SharePoint Online in Office 365 now includes this new programming model for the development, installation, management, and use of apps.

The Site usage page in SharePoint sites gives us an overview of “Unique Visitors” and “Site Visits” charts. Site traffic feature is amazing we can see when(timings) most people have accessed your SharePoint. There, too, is a new chart titled “Popular Platforms” where users can check the platform-type (Desktop, Mobile Web, Mobile app, Tablet) to analyze where traffic from to better tailor their sites.
