Never Talk To Your Therapist About Romantic Transference

If you really do feel like it would be helpful to discuss romantic transference with a therapist, you should only talk about it with a different therapist (i.e. a therapist that you don’t have romantic transference with) and never bring it up with the therapist you are attracted to. You don’t even have to stop seeing the therapist that you are attracted to; you could simply alternate therapists every other session or so. You don’t even have to tell the first therapist that you are alternating therapists. Did Katie Morton or Dr. Howes ever make this suggestion? Did they ever tell you of the risk, and propose a very simple solution to drastically mitigate this risk? No, they did not. And it literally cost many people their lives.

Wouldn’t it have been nice if we knew that a large proportion of the “mental health profession” thinks that a client talking about romantic transference will then effectively give the therapist a free pass to abandon their clients at will, with or without just cause?
