What is ZetaChain?

ZetaChain is a basic public blockchain that supports the omnichain, general smart contracts and message passing between any blockchains. It solves the problems of “cross-chain” and “multi-chain”, and aims to open the cryptocurrency and global financial ecosystem to everyone. ZetaChain envisions and supports a truly fluid multi-chain crypto ecosystem where users and developers can switch and enjoy the benefits of each blockchain: Payments, DeFi, Liquidity, Gaming, Art, Social Graphics, Performance, Security, Privacy waits.

ZetaChain is the world’s first and only blockchain that connects everything. It facilitates cross-chain and cross-layer transfer of value, messaging, and smart contract calls — enabling for the first time full-chain dApps (odApps) that can leverage liquidity across multiple networks and read and update state across all connected networks.

ZetaChain is a decentralized public blockchain network. It is based on Cosmos SDK and Tendermint consensus. While many cross-chain solutions like Bridges have different, often centralized trust models that have proven vulnerable to attacks and hacks, ZetaChain is a proof-of-stake blockchain where all transactions on the platform and activity — even cross-chain transactions — are fully transparent, auditable, and operate with a minimum level of trust.

ZetaChain nodes have observers to monitor transactions in each connected chain. ZetaChain’s TSS architecture allows the network to sign and verify transactions on any connected chain, just like a wallet. By being able to read and write connected chains in a secure and decentralized manner, these hyperconnected nodes provide a seamless full-chain environment upon which developers can build novel and powerful cross-chain applications.

Developers can pass messages (data + values) between chains and layers with simple function calls. Through messaging, dApp developers only need to implement a few functions in existing smart contracts to create powerful cross-chain applications.

Smart contracts can be deployed locally on ZetaChain and can read/write to connected chains. ZetaChain is the only public blockchain that supports smart contracts with this functionality, enabling a new paradigm in application development.

The ZetaChain network and dApps built on top of ZetaChain can manage assets and treasuries from externally connected chains. This allows assets to be managed on each chain, just like smart contracts on a single chain can manage assets on their respective chains. Therefore, dApps on ZetaChain can orchestrate smart contract logic and bring it into each connected chain. This property applies to all chains, including non-smart contract chains such as Bitcoin and Dogecoin.

The ZetaChain token ZETA is used to pay gas fees for ZetaChain smart contracts and is additionally used to secure the PoS ZetaChain blockchain through bonding/staking/slashing. ZETA is also the core of ZetaChain cross-chain transmission, exchange, messaging and security. ZETA is one of the first multi-chain coins issued natively across multiple chains and layers.

ZETA is the native token of ZetaChain, one of the first tokens issued natively across multiple chains. ZETA is used in many aspects of the network, including as an intermediary token in cases where value is transferred across chains. The token will be used to fuel the network, much like ETH is used on Ethereum, and to maintain and encourage decentralization of the network — staking, bonding, slashing, etc. These properties have proven to provide a sustainable foundation for the security, longevity and scalability of the ZetaChain network, especially compared to many other existing interoperability solutions which may be centralized, powered Insufficient and long-term unsustainable. Any asset or data can still be traded on any connected chain. ZETA, as the name of the cross-chain value movement, also provides ZetaChain with an extremely small attack surface, not vulnerable to many of the vulnerabilities that many interoperability projects are susceptible to.

Users can transfer ZETA coins from any chain A to chain B directly. The mechanism is a one-way peg (i.e. burn X amount on chain A, mint X amount on chain B).

We use our own ZETA coin to represent cross-chain value because:
